In 1964 the curved board was replaced with a veneer when the CBS Corporation purchased the company leading to wjhat most agree was a decline in quality. So replica Fender guitars made today may actually be better quality than post 1964 originals!

The Tanglewood RVB-2 60s Beatles style violin bass is another good example of just how good replicas can get. Based on Hofner’s 500/1 ‘Beatle Bass’, The RVB-2 recreates a vintage semi-hollow tone ideal for ’60s style pop/ rock, blues and jazz, without breaking the bank! It has the same vintage features as the Hofner: rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, maple neck, floating wooden bridge and pearloid pick guard. Of course, the pickups aren’t the Hofner stamped ‘Staple’ humbucking pickups, but the two toaster appearance mini-humbucker pickups work just as well in achieving that Beatles un-EQ’d classic pop sound.  So don’t dismiss electric guitars just because they are replicas.Just like the tribute bands, sometimes these guitars can be as good as, if not better than, the original.

Aerosmith Dream On was the first single ever created by the group. It was featured on their 1973 debut album, Aerosmith. Steven Tyler wrote the song with a lot of influence from the blues.

Aerosmith Dream On was the first major hit for the group. As a single it rose all the way to 59. But in 1976 it made it all the way up to number six during its re-release. It was first played live at a Connecticut inn. Aerosmith Dream On was later released by the group in eight compilations, as well as on two boxed sets.

Aerosmith Dream On made it into the rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 songs that shaped rock ‘n roll. It was 172 in Rolling Stone’s top 500 greatest songs. Two other Aerosmith songs, Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way, are tied for this song in the minds of fans as Aerosmith’s signature song.

Artists often sample songs like Aerosmith Dream On in other music. This is when a portion of a song is used in the new work. Eminem sampled the song in his 2002 album the Eminem Show. Aerosmith’s lead vocalist played the guitar solo on the tracks. Some less well-known artists sampled or covered Aerosmith Dream On. These include Andru Donalds, and a rapper named Slim Thug.

There is a myth that the band Led Zeppelin actually wrote the song. It’s just a hoax. Buick uses the song in their commercials. Their slogan is Dream Up. It also appeared in a number of movies. These include Miracle from Walt Disney, and Last Action Hero.

Aerosmith Dream On has been featured in a number of video games. Dead or Alive Ultimate used it. There is also a video game called Guitar Hero Aerosmith. The song was re-recorded just for the game. People could also download Aerosmith Dream On for the game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Its appearance in that game was to promote the new game.

Not only has Aerosmith Dream On been featured in many live concerts, but it has also been performed with full orchestras. In the 1990s a concert was done for MTV’s 10th anniversary. And in 2006 members of Aerosmith performed it with the Boston Pops. At one point Aerosmith dedicated the song to a fallen Israeli soldier.

PRS electric guitars are the creation of the eponymous Paul Reed Smith, who made his first guitar at St. Mary’s College in Maryland and he continued to build guitars after he finished college.Paul made them one at a time, one a month.Smith would often tout his guitars backstage at concerts, and eventually got his break when Derek St. Holmes, of the Ted Nugent Band, agreed to try out #2, the second guitar Smith had ever made. Smith then contacted Ted McCarty, former president of Gibson and creator of the Explorer and Flying V guitars, who became his mentor and business advisor.  The result of their collaboration is reflected in the current line up of PRS guitars, which includes electric guitars utilising a vast range of exotic materials such as elaborately figured tone woods and intricate shells for inlays.

The PRS Paul’s 28 Electric Guitar is the is first guitar for many years that has been made by Paul Reed Smith himself, hence the price tag of £25,000.  It’s got one of the curliest tops PRS have ever made and a rare ribbon-striped mahogany back that was hand-selected from an entire warehouse of wood.An extremely rare Pernumbuca Neck combines with an exotic black Rosewood Fretboard, a dark Mexican Rosewood Headstock veneer, and rippled Green Abalone, Paua Heart, and Mammoth Ivory “Celtic Cross” inlays.

Paul Reed Smith spent several years refining all of the parts and processes that went into this instrument:  the wood drying methods, the colour “Burnt Gold” (PRS has been working on this stain method for the last two years), the very special paper-thin nitrocellulose finish, the pickups (PRS proprietary 1957/2008 pickups made from PRS’s rare magnet and wire supplies), the nut, the tuning pegs, the frets, the glues…everything.He even spent two years researching the materials for the case. Another bonus of the game is that the previous guitar controller is being made available to use in the game as well as the the DJ controller.

The song Devil Woman was first recorded in 1976 by a UK singer named Cliff Richard.  It was a big hit, reaching number nine on the UK charts.  The Billboard 100 showed it as high as #6.  That was Richard’s biggest hit ever in the United States.  Here’s more information on the song.

Terry Britten wrote it.  He was English singer-songwriter who wrote songs for people like Tina Turner, Olivia Newton John, and even Michael Jackson.  He also wrote well known songs for some hit movies including Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome.  Terry was the guitarist in Cliff’s famous recording of Devil Woman.  They recorded it at Abbey Road, a studio made famous by the Beatles.

The Devil Woman song tells a story. A man seems to be cursed after meeting a strange stray cat with evil eyes.  Wanting to have the curse lifted, the man seeks the help of a gypsy psychic.  But it turns out the cat didn’t curse him.  It was a ploy by the gypsy woman to bring the man into her power.

Many songs like Devil Woman that have a story to tell are sparsely produced.  They aren’t complex.  They use few instruments for their simple tune.  Devil Woman  is no different.  It needed only a single guitar, an electric piano, some drums and other percussion.  Oh, and there was a singer.

The combination of major and minor chords in Devil Woman aren’t usual for pop songs.  In US pop songs, it was one of the first to encompass more than an octave.

Devil Woman has been covered by others.  It was performed by the Accused.  The band was founded in 1981 in Washington.  Their music is splatter rock.  Many of the sounds in their music are made to mimic the sounds from the horror movies that they loved.  These include shrieking lyrics, and chainsaw like guitar riffs.

In 2005 Cradle of Faith covered Devil Woman. This was an extreme metal band from England. Their songs were in the style of the band had said any kind of metal. Given their reputation and style of music this song was perfect for them.

Devil Woman is a haunting song.

The Mancunian hard man of rock Liam Gallagher has discussed plans to design leather sofas under his new Pretty Green fashion label.

Following on from the launch of Gallagher’s new Pretty Green fashion line earlier in June the Oasis frontman has expressed his desire to stock designer furniture.  Gallagher explained to the Oasis fans website stopcryingyourheartout.com: “We are doing everything man, we are going to cane it.”

Better known for his wild lifestyle and brushes with controversy it would appear to be a surprising shift of attention for the rocker. In what may be seen as a post Oasis business move it will still come as a shock to many fans that consider Gallagher to be a modern day rebel without a cause. ‘Some might say’ its the strongest indicatior so far that the lifespan of an active Oasis band is soon to be at an end. Brother Noel has also been giving vibes that the days of touring should be left to the younger generation of would be rock stars.
